PEG-7 Lauryl Ether
Pharcos L 7
Also known as: Polyoxyethylene 7 Lauryl Ether | Macrogol Lauryl Ether 7 | Polidocanol 7
Pharcos L 7 (HLB ~12.0) is entirely water-soluble and is globally recognized as one of the most effective, fastest-acting non-ionic detergents available. While it finds use in cosmetics as an O/W emulsifier, its primary dominance is in household and industrial cleaning. It is the core grease-cutting active in modern liquid laundry pods, potent dishwashing liquids, and rapid-wetting agrochemical herbicide sprays.

How It Works
Laureth-7 represents the 'sweet spot' of the lauryl ethoxylate curve for detergency.
The C12 lauryl chain is short enough to penetrate solid grease deposits (like sebum on clothing) instantly, without the steric drag associated with longer C16 or C18 chains. Concurrently, the 7-mole PEG chain is perfectly sized to aggressively pull that mobilized grease straight into the wash water via micellar suspension. This rapid dual-action (penetration + suspension) makes it vastly superior to anionic surfactants (like SLS) when washing synthetic fabrics (like polyester workout clothes) that hold onto body oils stubbornly.
Technical Information
Common questions about PEG-7 Lauryl Ether
Laureth-7 is a liquid at room temperature and is 100% active. Ceteareth-20 is a solid wax and requires heat to dissolve. In concentrated laundry pods where water content must be kept near zero to prevent dissolving the PVA film, a potent liquid surfactant like L-7 is absolutely mandatory.
