PEG-100 Castor Oil
Pharcos CE 100
Also known as: Polyoxyl 100 Castor Oil | Castor Oil Ethoxylate 100 | Polyoxyethylene 100 Castor Oil
Pharcos CE 100 represents a shift from a standard solubilizer to a heavy, water-soluble polymeric surfactant (HLB >16.5). Due to the massive ethoxylation, it is a semi-solid waxy material. It provides incredibly strong, robust emulsification in high-water systems, making it highly effective in heavy-duty commercial degreasers. Its primary industrial application lies in textile processing, acting as an exceptional, water-washable spin finish and fiber lubricant.

How It Works
At 100 moles of EO, the sheer physical size of the hydrophilic chain totally eclipses the castor oil core.
In textile manufacturing (spin finishing), this molecule functions as a perfect boundary lubricant. The ricinoleic acid core anchors itself to the synthetic polymer fiber (like polyester), while the massive PEG-100 chain extends outward, drastically lowing the friction coefficient of the fiber against metal machinery. Crucially, because the molecule is so intensely water-soluble, after the fabric is woven, the CE 100 washes off the fiber effortlessly during the scouring process, leaving no greasy residue behind to interfere with dyeing.
Technical Information
Common questions about PEG-100 Castor Oil
Lower ethoxylates are liquids and better suited for precise fragrance solubilization. CE 100 is a waxy solid; it is used when you need immense hydrophilic power, high-temperature stability, or physical lubrication mechanics.
Yes, despite being a wax, the immense polarity of the 100 EO groups allows it to dissolve freely in warm or cold water.
