Triethanolamine (99% Grade)
Pharcos TEA 99
Also known as: TEA 99 | Trolamine High Purity | Low DEA Triethanolamine
Pharcos TEA 99 (often referred to as 'Low DEA' grade) is the highest purity commercial form of Triethanolamine. Unlike TEA 85, which contains significant amounts of Diethanolamine (DEA) as a byproduct, TEA 99 is refined to contain almost zero DEA. This makes it the absolute requirement for leave-on cosmetics (like expensive face serums) where the presence of DEA could potentially react with preservatives to form harmful nitrosamines. It guarantees the safest, most stable neutralization for premium products.

How It Works
Ultra-pure polymer uncoiling.
Mechanistically it identical to TEA 85 (neutralizing acidic polymer carboxyl groups to force them to uncoil into a massive gel lattice). However, because there are no DEA or water impurities interfering with the reaction, the resulting gel network is often slightly stiffer, more brilliant in its optical clarity, and significantly less prone to yellowing or discoloring over years of sitting on a retail shelf.
Technical Information
Common questions about Triethanolamine (99% Grade)
In many regions, yes. Regulatory bodies (like the EU) strictly limit the amount of secondary amines (like DEA) allowed in leave-on skin products due to nitrosamine concerns. Therefore, formulators targeting global markets must exclusively use TEA 99% (Low DEA) over TEA 85%.
