Isotrideceth (3-12)
Pharcos TA
Also known as: Iso-TDA Ethoxylates | Polyethylene Glycol Isotridecyl Ether
Pharcos TA series (Isotridecyl Alcohol Ethoxylates or Iso-TDA) are extremely similar to standard TDA but are synthesized from a specific isotridecanol isomer. While they retain the incredibly rapid wetting and degreasing power of the branched C13 tail, the specific 'iso' geometry fundamentally dampens the surfactant's ability to maintain a stable foam structure. This makes it an elite choice for industrial processes where intense agitation is required (like pigment milling for paint or high-pressure spray washing) but where foam would shut down the machinery.

How It Works
Foam suppression via steric instability.
While linear ethoxylates pack tightly at the air-water interface to create thick, rigid foam bubbles, the highly awkward 'iso' branched tail of the Isotridecyl molecule disrupts this packing. When agitated, bubbles form rapidly (due to the high wetting speed) but the steric bulk of the tails prevents the bubble wall from structurally reinforcing itself. The bubbles collapse almost instantly, providing the intense cleaning power of a heavy surfactant without the blinding blanket of foam.

Common questions about Isotrideceth (3-12)
Isotridecyl is selected specifically when foam must be minimized. If you are formulating a manual mechanics hand-cleaner, standard TDA provides satisfying suds. If you are formulating a fluid for an automated, high-pressure industrial parts-washer, Iso-TDA must be used to prevent foam from overflowing the machine.
